Sharetea

My all time favourite bubble tea store would have to be Sharetea. I go there regularly and sometimes you can find me there about 3 times a week, whether I’m just picking up a drink or studying there. I just love how they’re really consistent with their drink flavours and the aiyu jelly here taste amazing and has to be the best I’ve had before.

Location

Address: 1033-8300 Capstan Way, Richmond, BC V6X 4B7

There’s two Sharetea locations in Richmond, one next to Richmond Centre and one located within the Union Square Shopping Centre which is close by Aberdeen Centre. Both locations are quite accessible via the Canada Line since the Canada Line has stops at Aberdeen and Richmond-Brighouse, making it a few minutes walk to both locations after getting off the skytrain.

Interior

The space of Sharetea isn’t too big or small, but has about 5 tables for customers to sit down. Usually during weekdays I would say that it isn’t too busy, but it definitely gets quite full on weekend afternoons. The walls are painted black and grey and the lighting is dim inside Sharetea. The decor is definitely quite simplistic but has an industrial ambiance to it. Also, they do play a lot of Chinese remixes of English music so that is quite an interesting element to this Sharetea location.

Taste

I’ve tried many drinks here at Sharetea but my favourite would have to be the Green Milk Tea with Aiyu Jelly because of its light, but sweet taste and also the aiyu jelly adds an element of a soft texture to the overall drink. Also, the Creamas here are really good too and Creamas are basically a tea drink with a layer of frothy cream that goes at the top and you sip it like how you would a regular hot drink. My favourite thing about Sharetea would have to be the quality of their drinks so they’re so consistent and they don’t taste artificial.

Price

The drinks here average to $5-$6 a cup which is quite standard, when compared to other bubble tea stores. Newer bubble tea chains nowadays have drinks that are a couple dollars more expensive than Sharetea. I would say the price of their drinks are reasonable for the exceptional taste of their drinks.

Conclusion

Whenever friends ask me for a bubble tea recommendation, I always say Sharetea! It is my go-to place for bubble tea without a doubt and I think I’ve converted all my friends and family too to Sharetea drinkers. I love their quality, taste, and consistency of all of their drinks and the price is not too expensive either. I definitely would recommend trying Sharetea to anyone who hasn’t and is a bubble tea lover!

Chun Yang Tea

When in Richmond, you’ll often be seeing tons of bubble tea openings quite often so it isn’t a surprise that I’m doing yet another, bubble tea review. Chun Yang Tea is best known for their Brown Sugar Pearl with Fresh Milk as advertised, like many other bubble tea chains who are also on the Brown Sugar hype. Chun Yang Tea originates from Taiwan, like most bubble tea chains, and is known for its use of fresh milk and its authentic flavours.

Location

Address: 7971 Alderbridge Way #130, Richmond, BC V6X 2A4

It is located right next to Gyu-Kaku in Richmond so you can get your Japanese BBQ fix and bubble tea fix all in one place! This plaza is very near Lansdowne Mall so getting there isn’t too difficult by transit since there’s a skytrain stop at Lansdowne and you would only have to walk a bit from there. It’s also in central Richmond so it’s close by shopping malls, restaurants, and other bubble tea and dessert locations.

Interior

The inside of Chun Yang is on the smaller side with only a few tables but they often open their (what seems like a) garage door so the space does feel pretty open and less cramped. The space is decorated with wooden tables and small plants so it gives a bit of a lively ambiance. They have a wall with white subway tiles and a neon sign with the Chinese character of “Chun” which translates to spring which I found to be such an aesthetically pleasing piece of decor that set the vibe of the place.

Taste

We go the Oolong Milk Tea and Honey Oolong Tea and both were super light and refreshing! For the Oolong Milk Tea, the Oolong flavour was quite strong and the amount of sweetness definitely compliments the flavours of the Oolong Tea well. The pearls were great too and had a good texture since it was chewy but soft. The Honey Oolong Tea was light, not overly sweet and had a hint of bitterness from the Oolong Tea flavour which I enjoyed.

Price

The drinks here at Chun Yang Tea ranges from $5 to $7 after tax which is quite standard for most bubble tea places. There are size options between the regular and the large and a few at a set size, but that is common for bubble tea places.

Conclusion

Overall, I had quite a pleasant experience at Chun Yang Tea and I will be coming back, especially if I’m craving bubble tea after eating at Gyu-Kaku right next door, which I go to often. Their prices are standard and not too pricey but their drinks are high quality which I find to justify the prices. Their flavours are definitely unique and really refreshing so if you’re looking to try a new bubble tea place that are not one of the larger chain bubble tea locations (Chatime, Sharetea, Coco, Gong Cha), I would suggest coming here!

Black Mill Tea

Happy (almost) Halloween! Loved the festive decor at Black Mill Tea. When in Richmond, you’ll always find yourself stumbling upon new bubble tea places. Black Mill Tea recently opened in September and I finally made the courage to try something new. Are y’all still on that brown sugar hype? Because I am! Especially when I’m trying a new bubble tea place. In my opinion, it was quite average and was quite creamy with the milk compared to other brown sugar drinks I’ve had before. Most of the flavour came from the brown sugar and the pearls which made it just your standard brown sugar drink. The experience was overall average but I’m not opposed to coming back to try their other drinks!

Earls Kitchen + Bar Restaurant

Have y’all ever had brunch at Earls?! Well if not, I’d recommend to check it out since it’s only $7 for all brunch food. The only thing is that it’s only served on weekends from opening until noon so keep that in mind! The Chorizo + Mushroom Hash was really delicious and the hollandaise sauce definitely tied all the components of this dish together. On the other hand, the Southern Fried Chicken + Waffles was just average in my opinion since there wasn’t anything too special about it but the chicken was quite crispy and had good flavours. Overall, I think everything we had was quite worth it since it’s only $7 a dish!

The Alley

http://www.the-alley.ca/

The Alley has been open for a while now but I haven’t found the time to try it out until now. The 2 drinks we got were numbers 1 & 2 on The Alley’s Picks and both were amazing! The Brown Sugar drink is probably one of the best ones I’ve tried so far! Also the Royal No.9 Fresh Milk Tea was equally as enjoyable, especially since it isn’t overly sweet and you get a nice aftertaste to the drink. The location itself is quite small so it’s definitely more for a quick grab rather than a longer stay. For sure The Alley ranks high on my favourite bubble tea places in our (Vancouver) area!
