Baking Powder + Paint + Glass = Ceramic Art?

When I first saw a TikTok video from @genevavanderzeil about her creating beautiful ceramic pieces with only 3 main supplies, I was truly shocked. It looked so authentic and really looked like real ceramic. I had to try it for myself and I am so glad I did.

Supplies Needed

  • Glass container
  • Paint
  • Baking Powder
  • Paintbrush

Step 1

Begin by mixing your paint and baking powder. I personally eyeballed it depending on the size of the glass container that you were painting.

In terms of containers, try whatever you like! Be unique and find some funky shapes to paint. If you are looking for some really cool figures, look through thrift stores like Value Village.

Step 2

Use straight strokes up and down the container while trying not to layer on top of each other just yet. Once you fully cover the container, let it fully dry before attempting another coat. This way the paint will look smooth and even all over.

Add as many coats as you need in order for it to be opaque!

Step 3

You are done! It’s that simple. Display these pieces wherever you like, I personally have them on my dresser because they fit the theme of my room.

Hope you guys enjoyed and I hope you get a chance to try this out! Until next time 🙂

What Inspires Me to Write Songs

One of the first songs I’ve ever written was about a boy back in Kindergarten when he broke my crayon after borrowing it. Since then not much has changed. I still write about boys, however, instead of breaking my crayons a few have broken my heart. Reflecting back now, I find myself laughing at the countless times I’ve written songs after what feels like my heart getting ripped out of my chest, but hey! You go through what you need to go through in life. Musicians just cope by singing about it!

I grew up watching a lot of rom-coms that have conditioned me into being a hopeless romantic. In the grand scheme of things, it makes a lot of sense as to why I find myself writing about love so often. I see it in a lot of things throughout my life. Whether it be about my romantic relationship, friendships, parents, I just feel really lucky to be surrounded by it.

Aside from that, the biggest inspirations for me when it comes to songwriting is God. I feel like this might be a sensitive/personal topic for some, but I would like to try and explain why this is special to me. From a young age, my faith and relationship with Christ has always been a big part of my life. Within the last three to four years, I have found myself in situations that have me in a posture of surrender and trusting Him with what He has planned for me. I sing because I know music was a gift given to me to give to others.

Music for Joyful Mornings

Who here loves music?

I actually really didn’t when my parents made me take piano lessons in elementary school. But from that push in my younger years, I have learned to appreciate how music can be a comfort and a friend in times of struggle.

This is a short playlist I’ve put together to cultivate joyful mornings.

It’s a little folksy, a little optimistic, and hopefully a fresh listen for you to enjoy today.

Check out joyful mornings here.

Remix Something

Hello!

For this assignment, I was trying to think what I could remix. For some reason, I instantly thought of remixing a song, but that doesn’t really make sense for my blog and/or is really out of my abilities.

So I decided to remix a painting I found on Pinterest.

I decided to paint the exact same painting, just in cooler colours.

Thats all for this assignment! Let me know what you think 🙂

Tractor Foods

Tractor Foods

Mmm we love a good healthy bowl! It’s nice to eat foods that don’t make you feel super gross afterwards every so often to balance out all the bubble tea and dessert I’m usually getting. I really enjoy the mixture of greens and the sauces they added to it to make the bowl really flavourful so you don’t feel like you’re just eating grass or something. Wish we had this kind of stuff in Richmond though so I could be here all the time.

Xing Fu Tang

I finally got to try Xing Fu Tang because they opened a Richmond location at T&T! Honestly I wasn’t going to go because I thought it was going to be super busy but it wasn’t too bad of a wait. (Waited about 20 mins) I really enjoyed their pearls since it was soft but still chewy and sweet but still flavourful! The Brown Sugar Pearl Milk has more of a thicker milk flavour while the Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea has more of a coffee taste to it. But between the both, we preferred the Pearl Milk more than the Milk Tea. I think it’s worth a try!

Pokey Okey

I love eating poke! I’ve been to Pokey Okey like once or twice before and I don’t know why I forgot about them. They’re actually quite good and at such a convenient location in Richmond (central Richmond)! After having them again, I know I’ll be coming here more regularly because their ingredients are super fresh and tasty. They have a wide variety of flavours and toppings so you can pick and choose what you enjoy the best! Btw portions are quite generous too here and I really like that I feel full after eating poke.

Hanlin Tea House

I recently tried Hanlin today and it was quite the experience. I don’t know how long they’ve been open for but I feel like they’re quite hidden in Richmond since it’s the first time I’ve come across it. The place itself is super aesthetic, cozy, and a great space to study now that school is back. The Jade Green Tea Yakult (left) was refreshing but the amount of mini pearls was quite overwhelming and the Thai Milk Tea (right) was light and not overly sweet, which I enjoyed. But, nonetheless I would definitely recommend to give them a try to check out their cute space!
